NHS Staff With Emotional Connection
According to research presented by Professor Michael West of Aston Business School, National Health Service managers can create positive psychological environments in which staff can connect emotionally and flourish. In the masterclass delivered at the National Health Service Employers Annual Conference and Exhibition in Birmingham this week (Tuesday Oct 9), delegates learned about the importance of managing their own environments so that they can ensure that they model change positively.
“Change is constant in the NHS and there is a danger that staff and managers can become worn down by the effects” commented Professor West, “Our research covers the leadership contribution to managing change and it reveals that creating the right psychological environment can have a great positive contribution.”
Professor West is Executive Dean at Aston Business School, and a member of the National Health Service HR Capacity Advisory Group.
