CANNOCK BAR SCORES WITH FOOTBALL LEGEND
The streets will be quiet the afternoon of 19th May as every football fan in the UK sits in front of a TV either at home or in their local bar for the clash of the titans of the sport – Manchester Utd and Chelsea – in the world’s most highly rated domestic competition, the FA Cup Final. But Cannock’s Bar Sport is delivering a special afternoon for fans, as well as showing the match throughout the bar, it is hosting a lunch in its Premier Suite with football legend Tommy Docherty.
Tommy who has managed both finalists in his career as well as Aston Villa and Scotland, will spend the afternoon talking to regulars in the bar before going to the Premier Suite to watch the match and host the private lunch. The fast-talking, wisecracking Glaswegian is sort by many TV, radio and newspapers journalists for his views on the game and promises to deliver a great afternoons entertainment.
“We are delighted to have such a legend as Tommy for FA Cup Final Day,” commented proprietor Scott Murray. “He is such a great character it should be a superb afternoon. Tommy will be talking before the match and then giving his opinion of the game at half time in the Premier Suite function. Also joining Tommy, will be Steve 'The Tank' Kindon, former Wolves Striker and named 'After Dinner Sporting Speaker of the Year ' a couple of years ago.”
Tommy’s appearance is part of Bar Sport’s commitment to bringing sporting heroes to the public. Tickets for the three course lunch which include wine cost £35.00 per head and can be bought from Bar Sport in Cannock.
Bar Sport now has three sites, Cannock, Walsall and Rugby with another due to open this summer in Loughborough. The concept is a stylish environment in which to watch sport whilst also delivering great food. An expansion plan is in place which highlights the company’s intention to open further bars in towns and cities with a strong sporting link.
