The Garden Escape - part of Hampton Court Flower Show Gold

The Garden Escape has been part of a RHS Hampton Court Flower Show Gold Medal winning team this week. The company constructed two of their contemporary garden rooms to be used an artists’ studio and a gallery to display work by renowned artist Simon Carter. The Volvo ‘Artists Garden’ was created by the popular TV landscape designer and plant expert Tom Hoblyn, who put together a tranquil yet spectacular garden with space for both work and reflection. This concept is echoed by The Garden Escape whose buildings are put to a variety of uses in gardens right across the UK by people who want to work, play or simply provide themselves with extra quality space right on their own doorstep. The gold-winning garden brought together the very best in British garden design, planting and construction as The Garden Escapes’ Kath Harvey explains;
“A major feature of the winning design is two of our red cedar-clad Garden Escape buildings. They sit beautifully amongst the carefully considered planting, around a specially created ‘reflection’ pool. The show buildings are designed and built to the same exacting standards as the rest of our range. Garden Escapes have been installed in some very beautiful gardens, but it is an absolute delight to see them in such a spectacular setting. Some are being used as offices, some as gyms or relaxation spaces, but I think this is the first time we’ve seen one as a fine art studio and with positive comments from the artist, it seems an ideal use too.
I’d like to congratulate Tom on his winning design and for creating a setting that really shows our buildings off at their best.”
Garden Escapes are built to order and offer three distinct designs which can be adapted in size and detail to provide a tailor made and unique building.
BBC Gardeners' World presenters Joe Swift and Carol Klein chose the Artists Garden to launch their Hampton Court Flower Show review programme for BBC2, with the Garden Escape studio and gallery providing an appropriate backdrop to set the scene for one of the UK’s most prestigious gardening events.
