Hi Tech Learning from anti-scald leader
03/01/08
The education of specifiers, merchants and installers has played a huge part in the success of Intatec, the expert anti-scald valve, shower and tap manufacturer.
Now the launch of its new e-learning website marks another landmark in the company’s commitment to make Britain’s bathtimes safer. Surveys conducted by the company revealed that many merchants and installers did not have access to sufficient information to be able to accurately specify and install anti-scald products.
So Intatec published a freely available booklet, ‘everything you need to know about anti-scald’ which is now in its third print run. Going online to make the information more widely available was viewed as a natural progression by the company.
Intatec’s e-learning is an online based training programme that takes participants through the essentials of anti-scald, including TMV2 and TMV3 applications, with information presented in easily digestible sections. Questions have to be answered correctly before progressing to the next level and a certificate is created for people who successfully complete the course.
Intatec’s commercial director Cynthia Fisher, who spearheaded the project said: “Anti scald is not a terribly complicated subject, especially if you are working with quality products, but what it needs is for people to take some time out to digest and understand what is mandatory, what is best practice and what the best solutions are for delivering hot water at safe temperatures.
“The e-learning website is the next stage in our ongoing campaign to educate anyone responsible for the specification, supply or fitting of bathrooms and washrooms.
The information has been presented and the questions designed in a way that ensures maximum transfer of knowledge and although not arduous, there is enough information to be of benefit to both industry newcomers and experienced hands.”
The e-leaning website can be found at www.intalearning.co.uk and is easily navigable, presenting anti-scald solutions for different situations, including domestic, healthcare and public bath and shower rooms, referring to specific technical information and regulation as necessary.
Intatec’s newest recruit Bryan Bull, who joined the company this month (January), is the first to have an e-learning TMV course as part of his induction training.
The 32-year-old New Zealander, who will be Intatec’s representative in the West London area, has a history in the DIY trade and will be visiting bathroom boutiques as well as plumbers and builders merchants providing sales, product and technical information across the company’s wide range of thermostatic taps, showers and valves as well as solar heating and water saving and flow control equipment.
Bryan said: “This is the best induction training I’ve ever been received, it’s very thorough and because it was available online before I even started my new job, it gave me an instant insight into the world of TMV and Intatec so I didn’t feel so much like the new boy on my first day.”
Cynthia Fisher added: “We’re delighted to welcome Bryan on board and are pleased that we had the opportunity to do some final testing of e-learning on one of our own recruits.”
