Safety has always been at the forefront for thermostatic mixing valve (TMV) manufacturer Inta and the safety theme continues with their sponsorship of the latest 'how safe is your child from burns and scalds?' leaflet from Child Accident Prevention Trust, the charity committed to reducing accidental injury in children.
The leaflet offers practical safety advice to parents and carers of young children on how burns and scalds can be avoided and the risk of serious injuries minimised.
"Bath time scalding causes around 570 serious injuries and, incredibly, 20 fatalities each year," explained Inta's Commercial Director, Cynthia Fisher "and it is children and the elderly who are most at risk. The best way to avoid bath time scalding is to fit a TMV, although the leaflet for parents does offer safety advice for those who have bathrooms where there isn't yet a device fitted.
We focus a great deal of effort on delivering the anti-scald safety message and explaining the benefits of TMV's wherever we can. We feel that supporting the Child Accident Prevention Trust in the production of this leaflet is a good way of doing that."
"Bath water scalds among young children result in some truly horrific childhood injuries, many of which lead to disfigurement and hospital treatment for many years," commented Child Accident Prevention Trust's chief executive Katrina Phillips. "As such we are delighted that Inta has agreed to sponsor our leaflet and that it is using it as part of its safety awareness-raising campaign to alert more parents to the dangers of bath water scalds."
The leaflets will be circulated through child care professionals and groups right across the UK by the charity and to plumbers merchants and bathroom boutiques by Inta, making information available to the consumer and to the trade.
