Water Saving Devices Save Money Too
26/02/06
Concerns about impending hose pipe bans and the current UK water shortage have caused plumbing equipment manufacturer Intatec to draw attention to their range of water saving devices. These include a variety of products, which although originally intended for use in public washrooms, are increasingly being used in work places and domestic situations. At the familiar end of the product spectrum are non-concussive taps, the kind that are pushed, rather than turned – they deliver a flow of water and shut off automatically after a set period of time. There are timed flow devices for use in both basins and showers too, in fact, anywhere a tap is likely to be left on and water wasted. At the hi-tech end of the range are infra-red taps. These are activated simply by placing hands under the tap and water flows until the movement stops.
The company has noticed an upturn recently in the sales of water saving equipment, as Intatec’s Commercial Director Cynthia Fisher explains “Water saving devices obviously aim to save water and when it’s hot water that’s not being wasted, there are big energy savings to be made too. It’s good for the pocket and good for the environment. There is a trend towards water saving devices, particularly in new buildings and there does seem to be a domestic and refurbishment market developing too. This may be due to the steadily increasing number of homes with metered water rather than general environmental concerns. With the state of the nations’ water supply at the moment, using water regulating devices makes good common sense and depending on the water saving, could make sound economic sense too.”
Intatec prides itself on not only the technical competence of its equipment, but also outstanding aesthetics. The Inta product line up includes thermostatic taps, valves and showers, along with specialist washroom equipment. The range also includes vandal proof fittings which, when combined with temperature and flow control devices are ideal for unsupervised wash and shower areas.
