Thinking yourself thinner on the radio
15/01/08
Heart listener and serial dieter Leanne Hughes discovered that there are some unusual ways to make weight loss easier when she became a
guinea pig on 100.7 Heart FM’s breakfast show recently.
Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) specialist Matt Caulfield, dubbed ‘Mind Bending Matt’ by the show’s presenters Ed James and Sarah-Jane Mee, had been on air talking about top tips to keep New Year’s resolutions when he was given the challenge of working with a listener to help them achieve their New Year’s goals.
Leanne Hughes, who lives in Walsall has been dieting for a number of years with varying degrees of success, contacted the radio station to explain that she had an important reason for wanting to get fitter. She said “I am taking my parents’ shire horse Mickey to the National Shire Horse Show in March, and I need to be able to run alongside him in the arena. I’m hoping that my NLP session with Matt will give me a boost to help achieve my goals. Realistically, if I’m able to drop a dress size by March I’ll be very pleased”.
Matt Caulfield whose expertise is being put to the test said “Bad habits have been learned, so we use NLP techniques to teach the brain to do something else instead, and to make the subject feel good about doing it. Of course, you can’t train your brain to do something you really don’t want to do, but if you want to achieve something, NLP can help you do it.”
Presenter Ed James said “It was fascinating to watch the NLP session in the studio. Leanne was clearly enjoying it and I think it left everyone who was listening a bit more inspired. I can’t wait to see whether it’s worked for her. The whole session is on the 100.7 Heart fm website as a podcast for our listeners to check out.”
