CANNOCK CONKER CONTEST HAS A NEW CHAMPION!
The champion of The Cannock Conker Contest has emerged after a hard fought battle to the death – of the losing horse chestnut.
Dozens of entrants went bonkers for conkers at the charity event at The Stumble Inn in Bridgtown last night. (TUE)
The winner was Pete Davies, who scooped a trophy and a whopping first prize of £20 which he donated back to the charity.
The contest was organised and sponsored by Cannock-based advertising and PR agency Ward Lovett.
The competition was open to all Cannock companies and raised over £100 for BDF Newlife.
Ward Lovett company director Kerst Ward, who was knocked out in the semi final was delighted at the fun but competitive evening. He said “It was brilliant to bring together some of our neighbouring businesses for some ‘alternative’ networking with this light-hearted event. There were some exciting battles.”
The Cannock Conker Contest is in its second year but Ward Lovett has held the competition for seven years, with previous events taking place at its Birmingham offices, prior to a move to Cannock’s Marston Court development 12 months ago.
Heart FM’s Steve Denyer presented the winners trophy alongside schoolgirl Nicole Dyer who researched and helped plan the competition during her two weeks work experience with Ward Lovett.
