Conker Contest Ends in Draw

The first annual Cannock Conker Contest has ended in a draw – companies from around the area gathered outside the offices of ad agency Ward Lovett at Kingswood Lakeside to battle it out for the £20 prize money. Playing to traditional rules, more than a dozen competitors took part.
There was one tense moment right at the beginning of proceedings when Dave Rowell, of Clive Reeves dot com PR lost his conker from the string, and the ‘stamping’ rule was invoked. Play transferred indoors when a sharp shower threatened to put a dampener on the competition, but everything proceeded in true Cannock style through to a thrilling conclusion with the final drawn match between Des Morris of Boston Maine financial consultants and Richard Cole of host company Ward Lovett.
Ward Lovett MD Kerst Ward commented “It’s great to bring our Annual Conker Competition to Cannock and have it so well attended. It was a great way to meet some of our neighbours.”
