Children’s Charity Collects Cash from Cannock Conker Contest
Cannock-based children’s charity BDF Newlife has been handed cash raised by the Cannock Conker Contest.
Companies went bonkers for conkers to raise £100 at the competition, held at The Stumble Inn in Walsall Road, Bridgtown, earlier this month.(OCT 9)
It was organised and sponsored by advertising and PR agency Ward Lovett, based at Kingswood Lakeside, with the winner scooping a trophy and a £20 first prize.
Andy Rea, from Ward Lovett, handed over the cash at BDF Newlife’s Hemlock Way headquarters, to Karen Dobson, Child Grant and Nurse Services Manager.
The competition was played to traditional rules and Ward Lovett invited Cannock-based companies to collect their conkers and compete.
Andy Rea said: “We were delighted to enjoy some really good conker battles while raising money for such a good cause.”
Karen Dobson said: “There are many items of vital equipment that children with disabilities need and every penny helps us to provide something for them.
“We are very grateful for the support businesses in Cannock gave to the contest.”
The Cannock Conker Contest is in its second year but Ward Lovett has held the competition for seven years, with previous events taking place at its Birmingham offices, prior to a move to Cannock’s Marston Court development 12 months ago.
