Greyhounds at Oxford can tuck into a special Christmas dinner this year thanks to a 1p meal deal promotion.
The innovative 1p Meal Deal campaign offered admission to the stadium and a meal for only a penny. Oxford Stadium has collected all of the pennies and donated them to the Oxford branch of the Retired Greyhound Trust which is dedicated to rehoming ex-racing greyhounds.
General Manager at the stadium Maureen Ridley said: "The campaign has been such a huge success for us that we decided to match the penny total reached from the meal deals and donate the same amount again. The deal has really struck a chord with the people of Oxford when they realised they could have a night out and something to eat, all for a penny!
The campaign which ran for a month involved over 20 greyhound tracks nationwide.
"Since the campaign ended, a lot of the people who visited the stadium for the first time during the meal deal have now become regulars to our race nights. The whole promotion has been very beneficial for all involved and we're delighted to donate a sum of money to the Retired Greyhound Trust as a result.
