Organisers of Walsall Bite Size, the free adult learning programme that last year provided around twelve hundred Walsall residents and workers with a taste of new subjects has announced that the campaign will run again in March this year.
People can try a taste of learning for leisure, pleasure or for career improvement with taster courses as diverse as plumbing, cake decorating and even pole fitness.
Colin Robinson, manager of Walsall Lifelong Learning Alliance, the organisation behind Walsall Bite Size explains; “Our aim is to encourage the people of Walsall to learn something different and to increase their skill levels. Learning is for everyone and whatever their age or situation, people can benefit. Gaining new skills can open up a whole new world for work, for home or even just for enjoying yourself.”
“The idea behind Walsall Bite Size is to have a taster, perhaps just a couple of hours of a subject that you may never have tried or thought of before. If it’s something you think you’ll like, or will be useful to your future, you may be able to sign up for a full course. If you decide that the subject isn’t for you, you will only have lost a couple of hours of your time, because all of the Bite Size ‘tasters’ are free.”
“Walsall Bite Size will happen in March – Walsall’s new month of learning – at learning centres right across the borough. We are in the process of finalising the programme and Walsall residents can expect the taster course directory with full details through their door soon. Details will also be available on our website; www.walsallbitesize.com”
“We want to encourage as many people as possible to take part and hope that now, when people are thinking about New Year’s resolutions , that they will resolve in 2010 to learn something new.”
