A leading Midlands summer school venue is celebrating a new deal to bring students from across Europe to the heart of the country.
Birmingham’s Conference Aston will be playing host to more than 200 Italian and Portuguese students in July through a brand new partnership with ATC International.
The students, ranging from 12-18 years old, will be the first students on ATC International’s language study holidays in the UK.
ATC Director James Hordon said the campus facilities at Conference Aston were an ideal choice, as the site combined a fantastic location with high quality facilities.
“Our students are attracted to summer schools close to big cities offering a cosmopolitan, culturally rich experience with great shopping, so Birmingham was an obvious choice,” he said.
“Conference Aston is the perfect venue, within walking distance of the city centre and with good links to the motorway network, train stations and Birmingham International Airport.
“Plus the onsite facilities for accommodation, eating, drinking and the meeting space were ideal for our needs and met the high standards we required for our students.”
The summer school will run throughout July, with more than 200 students using their Birmingham base to explore the West Midlands, Oxford and London as part of their two week visit.
Conference Aston sales and marketing director Christine Page said she was delighted that ATC International had chosen Birmingham and Conference Aston for their first UK summer school, alongside a second course in Edinburgh.
“We look forward to welcoming the students to Birmingham, which really is a first class international city and is a great starting point to explore the UK,” she said.
“And we hope it is the start of a long partnership with ATC International and will be working with them to grow the business in 2011 and beyond.
“As a campus accommodation location, we have more than 500 rooms available throughout the summer and can provide high quality facilities for small and large groups of young people and adults in a bespoke package.”
Conference Aston welcomes more than 54,000 people a year to Birmingham for training, residential conferences, for weddings and to stay in its high quality hotel facilities and on site campus accommodation.
It sits at the heart of Aston University, which is a long established research-led university known for its world-class teaching quality and strong links to industry, government and commerce.
