Retired Greyhound Trust volunteer pleaOxford Retired Greyhound Trust (RGT) is appealing for volunteers who are barking mad about dogs, to help with their fundraising efforts to step up the campaign to re-home retired greyhounds.

Children In Need goes to the dogsCharity fundraising events for Children in Need got off to an early start at Oxford Stadium, where presenters from BBC Oxford and Pudsey the bear enjoyed an evening of fun and greyhound racing on Thursday night (19 November). Money was raised at the track from the public and also before the event with the sale of sponsored greyhound races.

Fireworks advice for petsFirework season is here and things are set to get noisier as bonfire night approaches. Oxford stadium, home to greyhound racing is planning a firework display after racing on 7th November, after all the dogs have left. Managers at the stadium have issued recommendations from the Retired Greyhound Trust on minimising the possible effects of fireworks on greyhounds and other pets;

Record bid for Lemon Drizzle CakeA charity night at Oxford Greyhound Stadium has raised over £900 for local charity the Retired Greyhound Trust (RGT). The event which took place earlier this month invited customers and stadium staff to take part in an auction and raffle to raise funds for a charity close to the stadiums heart.

Proof of age causes amusement at dog trackSenior greyhound racing fans have reason to celebrate in Oxford as the city’s dog track announced the abolition of entry fees for pensioners. Bosses at Oxford Stadium have decided to give their older visitors free entry to allow them more disposable cash for their night out.

Greyhound racing to go ahead in spite of weekend floodingStaff at Oxford Greyhound Stadium have worked hard over the weekend to clear up after flash flooding caused racing to be abandoned on Saturday (27th June 2009).
Stadium manager Maureen Ridley said; “The severe downpour caused some guttering to overflow and we ended up with a some water inside the building. There wasn’t too much damage and we have mopped up and have de-humidifiers in place which are doing the trick.”
“Oxford Stadium hosts The William Hill Cesarewitch meeting tonight (Tuesday 30th June) which will go ahead as planned. It is one of the highlights in our calendar. It is also being shown live on Sky TV.”
